CIB

Our online store offers its customers a secure credit card payment solution provided by CIB Bank. Security is based on data separation. The online store receives order-related information from the customer, while CIB Bank receives only the card details necessary for the payment transaction on a payment page secured with 256-bit TLS encryption. The Web Store is not informed of the data content of the payment page; only CIB Bank has access to it. The Web Store will inform you of the result of the transaction after payment. For card payments, your Internet browser must support TLS encryption.

The value of the purchased goods/services and the amount paid will be immediately blocked on your card account. Please read our detailed information!

About safety

TLS is the abbreviation for Transport Layer Security, an accepted encryption method. Our bank has a 256-bit encryption key that protects the communication channel. The company VeriSign enables CIB Bank to use the 256-bit key, which we use to provide TLS-based encryption. Currently, 90% of global e-commerce uses this encryption method. The browser used by the customer encrypts the cardholder's data using TLS before it is sent, so that it reaches CIB Bank in coded form and cannot be interpreted by unauthorized persons.

Accepted cards

CIB Bank's online payment system allows the use of Mastercard/Maestro, VISA and VISA Electron (in the case of Electron, only if authorized by the issuing bank) bank cards, as well as payments made with web cards suitable for online use.

Payment steps

  1. You select the goods/services you wish to purchase on the Web Store website and pay for them by credit card.
  2. You will then be redirected to CIB Bank's secure payment page, where you will need to fill in your card details to complete the payment.
  3. After entering your card details, click on the Pay button to initiate the transaction.
  4. After successful authentication, the payment process will continue.
  5. After payment, you will return to the Web Store page, where you will receive confirmation of the transaction result.

In the case of payment by bank card, following a successful transaction – meaning acceptance after verification of the validity of the bank card and sufficient funds – CIB Bank will debit the Cardholder's account with the amount corresponding to the value of the goods or services.

If you are not redirected from the payment page to the Web Store page, the transaction will be considered unsuccessful. If you click the "Back" or "Refresh" button on the bank's payment page, or close the browser window before being redirected back to the store, the payment will be considered unsuccessful.

If you would like more information about the outcome of the transaction, the reason for its failure, or its details, please contact your account-holding bank.

Questions and answers about online card payments

CARD ACCEPTANCE

What types of cards can be used for payment?

With embossed VISA and Mastercard cards, as well as certain VISA Electron and V Pay cards. The possibility of using VISA Electron cards on the internet depends on the card-issuing bank. VISA Electron bank cards issued by CIB can be used for online purchases.

Which banks' cards are suitable for online payments?

All VISA and Mastercard/Maestro cards that have been authorized for online payments by the card-issuing bank, as well as web cards specifically intended for online use.

Can I pay with store cards?

Loyalty cards issued by retailers/service providers that contain loyalty points cannot be used to make payments online.

Can I pay with co-branded cards?

You can pay with any co-branded card that is a Mastercard or VISA-based card suitable for online payments.

PAYMENT PROCESS

How does the back-end process of online payments work?

After selecting the credit card payment method on the merchant/service provider's website, the customer initiates the payment, which results in a transfer to the Bank's secure payment page. To make the payment, you need to enter your card number, its expiry date, and the 3-digit validation code found on the signature strip on the back of the card. You initiate the transaction, and from that point on, the card undergoes real-time authorization, during which the authenticity of the card details, coverage, and purchase limit are verified. If all the data is correct, the amount payable will be blocked on your card by the account-holding (card-issuing) bank. The amount will be debited (deducted) from your account within a few days, depending on the account-holding bank.

How does buying cards online differ from buying them in the traditional way?

We distinguish between card present and card not present transactions. Card present transactions are carried out using a POS terminal device. After the card is swiped and the PIN code is entered, the terminal contacts the cardholder's bank via the authorization center and, depending on the card type and issuer, via the VISA or Mastercard network. This is where the validity and coverage check (authorization) takes place. Following the same route in reverse, the POS terminal (or merchant) receives approval or rejection. The customer signs the receipt. A Card Not Present transaction is one in which the bank card is not physically present. This includes transactions conducted by mail, telephone, or electronically (via the Internet), in which the buyer (cardholder) initiates the transaction by entering the card details requested on a secure (256-bit encrypted) payment page. For successful transactions, you will receive an authorization number, which is the same as the number on the paper receipt.

What does booking mean?

When the bank becomes aware of the transaction, it is immediately reserved (blocked), as the official data must first be received before the actual debit can be made, which takes a few days, during which time the purchased amount could be spent again. Therefore, the reserved amount is set aside and placed under reservation. The reserved amount is included in the account balance, i.e., it accrues interest, but cannot be spent again. The reservation ensures that transactions for which there is no longer sufficient coverage are rejected, even though the account balance would in principle still allow them.

UNSUCCESSFUL PAYMENTS AND ACTIONS TO BE TAKEN

In what cases can a transaction be unsuccessful?

Usually, a payment order that is not accepted by the card-issuing bank (i.e., the bank where the customer received the card); however, in the case of bank card use, this may also be due to a telecommunications or IT error preventing the authorization request from reaching the card-issuing bank.

Card-related error

· The card is not suitable for online payments.

· Online use of the card is prohibited by the account-holding bank.

· Card use is prohibited.

· The card details (card number, expiration date, signature strip code) were entered incorrectly.

· The card has expired.

Invoice-related error

· There are insufficient funds to complete the transaction.

· The transaction amount exceeds the card's purchase limit.

Connection-related error

· The line was probably disconnected during the transaction. Please try again.

· The transaction failed due to a timeout. Please try again.

Technical error

· If you did not return to the merchant/service provider's site from the payment page, the transaction was unsuccessful.

· If you return from the payment page but use your browser's "back," "reload," or "refresh" buttons to return to the payment page, your transaction will be automatically rejected by the system for security reasons.

What should I do if the payment procedure fails?

A transaction ID is generated for each transaction, which we recommend you make a note of. If your payment attempt is declined by the bank, please contact your account-holding bank.

Why should I contact my account bank if my payment fails?

During card verification, the account-holding (card-issuing) bank notifies the merchant's (accepting) bank that collects the amount whether the transaction can be completed. The accepting bank may not disclose confidential information to customers of other banks; only the bank that identifies the cardholder has the right to do so.

What does it mean if I received an SMS from my bank about the amount being reserved/blocked, but the merchant/service provider indicates that the payment was unsuccessful?

This phenomenon may occur if the card has been verified on the payment page, but you have not returned to the merchant/service provider's website. In this case, the transaction is considered incomplete and is automatically classified as unsuccessful. In such cases, the amount will not be charged to your card and the reservation will be canceled.
